Home Decorating Tips
Renting a space to be closer to school or work can sometimes be dull and lonely but changing that can be as easy as decorating it to make it your own. For a temporary dwelling space, you’d probably settle on a small studio apartment but you’ll soon realize that it may actually be hard to carve out your own corner especially knowing that the space is really not yours to overhaul.
Here are some noteworthy tips to follow in making changes to make a rental space your own:
Dress Up Your Windows
You probably got your rental with standard blinds or sometimes even with bare windows. Get curtains or drapery that suits your personality or you can dress up your window with easy DIYs to hoist in that personal touch.
Add a Splash of Color
Make your room come to life with crazy colors. If your landlord or landlady prohibits painting your walls, then paint your own furniture. Giving your bed or a nightstand a new splash of color can give the same impact as newly-painted walls.
Give your floor some loving
With a rental, you would often have no option as to what kind of floor finishes are put in place. Whether your problem is with the style or damage, these can be easily remedied with an oversized rug of your choice. Just make sure to get a rug that will go well with the rest of your decor.
Make your space look bigger
This trick has been proven time and again and it never grows old. Choose a wall area and mount a life-size mirror to give your room the illusion that it’s bigger than it actually is. Plus, you will never have to position yourself awkwardly in front of a small mirror just to see your outfit.
Hang some framed prints and artwork
If you’re one of those artsy-fartsy fellas, frame a small bunch of your favorite prints or photos and create a gallery wall to add character and personality to your rental. You can either choose similarly colored frames with different designs or frames with the same design in different colors. Unleash your creative freedom!
