Quick Décor Tips for Rainy Weather

The rainy season is upon us, but don’t let that get in the way of your home decorating projects!

Decorating during the monsoon season comes with its own challenges, especially if you’re planning on updating your exterior spaces. But there’s still so much you can do inside your home to make sure it’s lovely to look at and comfortable to live in.

Here are some tips to spruce up your space during the rainy season:

1. Switch to warm colors.

If you’re planning to update your room colors, go for a bright and warm color palette such as oranges and yellows to brighten up the room. Dark colors don’t do anything to maximize whatever light enters your home, so you’ll want to avoid those. You may also want to steer clear of very light colors, as they can be difficult to clean during this season.

2. Add a splash of color.

While we’re on the topic of bright colors, this season is a great time to switch your cushion covers to brighter, more vivid shades. Choose colors that complement each other and give off a cheerful vibe. Again, avoid lighter shades that are harder to wash and dry.

3. Roll out the carpets.

Carpets are another quick way to change up a room. For the monsoon season, however, you may want to consider investing in bright, multi-colored machine-made carpets that dry faster than heavier Persian carpets. Another alternative would be a coir mat or a decorative bamboo rug.

4. Change your drapes.

Pack away your heavy drapes for the meantime and pull out lighter, translucent options. This will ensure you still get sufficient natural light and privacy at the same time.

5. Experiment with scents.

With the monsoon season comes the smell of mud, moisture, and closed rooms. Remedy this by lighting up scented candles or oils. Try out different scents like citrus, lemongrass or lavender.
