How to Apply Island Premium Paints ColorQuick

Beginners and professionals alike can apply Island Premium Paints ColorQuick using a brush, roller, or spray. Before applying paint, take note of the following measures that’ll help ensure a smooth finish without any errors.

1. Wear goggles, face masks, and gloves

   Keep safety in mind when handling primers or paints that’ll be used for this paint job. The mentioned products can help shield the eyes, face, nose, arms, and hands from substances in the paint and/or primer that may irritate the skin and the lungs, or trigger drowsiness and/or dizziness.

2. Use these products in a well-ventilated area

   Some primers and/or paints contain substances with overpowering and strong scents. Aside from wearing safety gear, use and handle these products in a well-ventilated area. Open windows, doors, and exhaust fans or vents to circulate the air and prevent the trapping of fumes that can lead to breathing difficulties.

3. Combine Island Premium Paints ColorQuick with adequate amounts of paint thinner.

   This may help with uniform application and reduce the risk of clumps or mistakes. Ideal ratios of paint to paint thinner will depend on the method of application to be used:       
   
   

   1. Brush or roller:

      Use Island Premium Paints ColorQuick as is or combine with 5% Mayon Paint Thinner.
   
   

   2. Spray:

      Reduce the paint by 10% to 15% of the mentioned paint thinner.
      

Once you are adequately protected and have prepared the paint, apply it to a wooden or metal surface. Keep in mind, though, that applying Island Premium Paints ColorQuick onto either surface requires specific steps and measures:

1. For New Wood Substrate or Previously Painted Wood Substrate

1. Sand the rough wooden surface. 
2. Clean the surface and ensure it is dust- and dirt-free before applying succeeding products.
3. Use a brush, roller, or spray to apply Island Wood Primer and Sealer 801 White onto the wooden surface. Read the package instructions regarding proper product handling. Follow ideal primer-to-thinner ratios depending on the chosen method of application. 
4. Apply two (2) coats of the Island Premium Paints ColorQuick shade of your choice using a brush, roller, or spray. Wait at least 24 hours before applying another layer of paint or product. 

2. For Metal Substrates

1. Inspect the metal surface for dust, rust, grease, dirt, or any other contaminants. If it’s not clean, wipe it down with a clean cloth to remove any debris that could affect the quality of the paint job.
2. Use a high-quality metal primer to prepare the material for paint application. Choices to consider include Island Metal Primer 700 Red Oxide, Island Metal Primer 730 Red Lead, Zinc Chromate Primer 7411 Yellow, Island Epoxy Primer 160 Gray, or Island Epoxy Primer 130 Red Oxide. Read the package instructions regarding proper product handling. Follow ideal primer-to-thinner ratios depending on the chosen method of application. 
3. Apply two (2) coats of the Island Premium Paints ColorQuick shade of your choice using a brush, roller, or spray. Wait at least 24 hours before applying another layer of paint or product.  

Once you’ve finished painting and are satisfied with the result, tightly seal the remaining product and store it in a child-safe area with a temperature below 35°C. If you need to dispose of the product, follow government disposal guidelines. Do not throw it in household garbage or pour used paint into sewage systems to help minimize environmental impact.
