Home Decorating Tips
We all love the smell of warm meals being prepared in the kitchen. What you may not love are the smells that linger, even after you cook.
Sometimes no matter how wonderful some foods smell, they can leave unpleasant odors throughout your kitchen. If you’re living in a small space, these smells can even linger all over your home. Isn’t it like having an unwanted house guest that just won’t leave?
Fortunately, the best ways to remove these odors are already in your home. Plus, you don’t really have to do a lot of work to get rid of these unwanted smells! Here are some handy tips to effectively rid yourself of unpleasant food odors from the kitchen:
-
Vinegar
White vinegar can neutralize a lot of bad odors. Leave an open bowl or cup of white vinegar anywhere you need to eliminate an odor. In the kitchen, you can simmer a pot of water and vinegar to neutralize kitchen smells. Some may not like the strong smell of vinegar to begin with, but it dissipates quickly after use.
-
Baking soda
Baking soda is another inexpensive solution to getting rid of unpleasant smells. What baking soda does is neutralize pH levels, cutting through bad odors effectively. Keep an open bag of baking soda in the fridge to remove smells. You can also sprinkle it anywhere you want to remove odors, including laundry hampers, litter boxes, and trash cans.
-
Lemon juice
Why use lemon-scented products when you can use the real thing? Lemon juice is great for neutralizing odors like that of garlic and fish. You can try rubbing lemon juice on your chopping board after cutting fish on it, or even on your hands after handling them. Using lemons or oranges can also get rid of microwave odors. Just place lemon or orange wedges in a glass bowl with hot water, and run the microwave for 3-5 minutes.
