Home Decorating Tips
For many of us, pets are not merely cats, dogs or animal friends that we take care of at home – they have become an important part of the family. Cat lovers, dog lovers, and all other kinds of animal lovers alike would agree that giving pets the freedom to run around the house instantly lights up the house and give it a fun atmosphere. However, giving your pets complete freedom at home can create quite a mess.
If you’re an animal lover who enjoys the company of your furry friend but always tired of cleaning up after them, here are a few tips to make your home more pet-friendly.
It’s all about the fabric.
With potty-trained pets, this might not be that big of a deal. But for your rebellious animal friends, the choice of fabrics you use around your home is an important thing to consider. Use pet-friendly fabrics like denim or canvas on the furniture that your pet frequents as much as possible. Store silks, suedes, and velvets in a place where your pet cannot reach them. If they have a designated sleeping area, whether it be on the couch, or a pet bed, make sure the fabric they sleep on is easily washable.
Invest in a vacuum cleaner.
Cats and dogs regularly shed their fur. This means that you’ll see an indeterminate amount of pet hair all over your house if you don’t clean regularly. The most efficient way to keep your floors hair-free is by using a quality vacuum cleaner.
Store their toys and treats in colorful containers.
Pets absolutely love colorful things that pop out! If you don’t have colorful containers at home, make it a DIY paint project! Don’t worry, there is anti-microbial wate- based paint that you can use like Island Life as an alternative to highly toxic paints.
Designate an area for your pet to eat and drink.
Pick out an area in your home (e.g. the corner of your kitchen) and set up your pet’s food and water bowls. Remember to keep them colorful without working against your interior decoration.
Say no to carpeting.
When you’re a pet owner, stains are a regular occurrence. If your walls and floors are carpeted, it can be quite difficult to remove unpleasant odors. Forget about wall to wall carpeting and settle on rugs, which are easier to clean.
