2. Add pinches of color to make a room look youthful and engaging.

Admittedly, painting walls in bright colors is not for everyone. Fortunately, you can still add a punch of color to a room with accessories. Start off with small items, like throw pillows, decorative bowls, or a lamp. When you’re more comfortable playing around with color, you can try incorporating it in larger areas. You’d be surprised at how a sudden pop of color can add energy to a room.

3. Mix up old and new.

It’s common in Filipino households to have items or accessories that have been in the family for generations. It’s great to show off these items, but don’t forget to incorporate your personal touch as well. Showcase personal items that tell your stories alongside your family’s.

4. Don’t be afraid to change it up every now and then.

People tend to leave their home design as it is for a long time, but it doesn’t have to be that way forever. Be brave enough to try new things with your space. Rearrange your furniture, or try a new paint color. Sometimes we’re so fixed on a certain look that we end up limiting ourselves, but who knows? You might actually create a whole new look that you’ll like.

5. It’s all about the perfect lighting.

A room is nothing without the right lighting. Some spaces let in more natural light than others, but you can always create additional light sources where there is a lack of it. Sit in the rooms of your home and observe where lighting needs to be added. With the right lighting, your surroundings will have a nice warmth and glow to them.
